What is CHAdeMO?
The plug, the current, the carCHAdeMO is an older DC fast standard, common on the first generation of Japanese EVs. It remains in the directory because those cars are still on the road.
The connector is larger than CCS1 and uses a different pin layout. Most CHAdeMO stations in North America deliver 50 kW, with some 100 kW sites; a few also carry CCS1 or J1772 for other cars.
New EVs have largely moved to CCS1 or NACS, so CHAdeMO sites are worth checking before a trip in a newer car. For a Nissan Leaf or an older Kia Soul EV, the directory's connector filter is the quickest way to find one.
What the label means
CHAdeMO is DC fast charging. It is not compatible with CCS1 or NACS without an adapter, and suitable adapters are uncommon.
Where CHAdeMO stations are
The states with the most stations listing CHAdeMO. Each link opens that state's page; the directory keeps the connector filter for a narrower view.
Cities with the most
The cities where these stations cluster. A link opens the city's own guide where one exists, otherwise the directory around that city.

CHAdeMO stations by place type
Counts are stations that list CHAdeMO, not plugs. One station can carry several connector types, so a station can appear here and in another connector's count. Prices are the networks' own per-kWh tariffs and can change by time of day. Counts from the directory data of October 2026.

Fit, power and priceHow many CHAdeMO charging stations are there?
EVDIR lists 364 public stations with CHAdeMO across 21 states and 271 cities, with 1,187 charging stalls. 331 of them are DC fast (50 kW or more), and 27 reach 150 kW or more.
What is a CHAdeMO connector?
CHAdeMO is an older DC fast standard, common on the first generation of Japanese EVs. It remains in the directory because those cars are still on the road. CHAdeMO is DC fast charging. It is not compatible with CCS1 or NACS without an adapter, and suitable adapters are uncommon.
Which cars use CHAdeMO?
Nissan Leaf and other older Japanese EVs. Legacy EVs that still use the standard. The connector a car accepts is fixed by its inlet; an adapter may be needed for a different standard, and support varies by vehicle and station.
How much does CHAdeMO charging cost?
Of the 285 stations that quote a per-kWh price, the median is $0.45 and 119 charge $0.40 or less. Networks set their own tariffs, and some add a session or idle fee.
Are CHAdeMO stations always fast chargers?
No label guarantees a rate. Typically 50–100 kW; the station and the vehicle negotiate the actual charge. Check the station's peak power in the directory before relying on it for a quick stop.
