What is NACS?

The plug, the current, the car

NACS is Tesla's charging connector, now standardized as SAE J3400. It carries both AC and DC charging, and it is the inlet on Teslas and a growing number of newer EVs.

Tesla's Supercharger network is the largest group of NACS stations in this directory, but NACS also appears at destination chargers and third-party fast sites. The connector is physically smaller than CCS1 and uses the same pins for AC and DC.

Cars with a J1772 or CCS1 inlet need a NACS-to-CCS1 or NACS-to-J1772 adapter, and not every station or vehicle combination supports one. The directory records the connector the station reports, not whether a particular adapter will work.

What the label means

A NACS label does not guarantee a Tesla-only station or a 500 kW rate; both depend on the site and the vehicle.

Where NACS stations are

The states with the most stations listing NACS. Each link opens that state's page; the directory keeps the connector filter for a narrower view.

All 20 states in the directory

Counts are stations that list NACS, not plugs. One station can carry several connector types, so a station can appear here and in another connector's count. Prices are the networks' own per-kWh tariffs and can change by time of day. Counts from the directory data of October 2026.

NACS questions

Fit, power and price

How many NACS charging stations are there?

EVDIR lists 517 public stations with NACS across 20 states and 326 cities, with 2,906 charging stalls. 117 of them are DC fast (50 kW or more), and 75 reach 150 kW or more.

What is a NACS connector?

NACS is Tesla's charging connector, now standardized as SAE J3400. It carries both AC and DC charging, and it is the inlet on Teslas and a growing number of newer EVs. A NACS label does not guarantee a Tesla-only station or a 500 kW rate; both depend on the site and the vehicle.

Which cars use NACS?

Tesla vehicles and newer EVs with a native NACS inlet. Tesla and NACS-native vehicles. The connector a car accepts is fixed by its inlet; an adapter may be needed for a different standard, and support varies by vehicle and station.

How much does NACS charging cost?

Of the 337 stations that quote a per-kWh price, the median is $0.40 and 173 charge $0.40 or less. Networks set their own tariffs, and some add a session or idle fee.

Are NACS stations always fast chargers?

No label guarantees a rate. Rate set by the station; the station and the vehicle negotiate the actual charge. Check the station's peak power in the directory before relying on it for a quick stop.
