About EVDIR

An independent directory of public electric-vehicle charging stations in the United States. Free to browse, no account, no advertising.

Data updated October 2026

What this is

EVDIR lists 6,338 public EV charging stations with 21,797 charging stalls across 23 states and 1,801 cities, run by 110 charging networks. A further 2,034 site outlets — campground pedestals, RV hook-ups and wall sockets — are counted as outlets rather than stalls.

Every station record carries the connector standards it accepts, its peak charging power, the number of stalls, the operator and the tariff the network publishes, when it publishes one. The directory filters those records; the state, city, network, place and connector pages answer the same question at a stable URL.

What it is not

EVDIR does not sell vehicles or electricity, does not operate a charging network, and is not affiliated with any network it lists. Network names and logos belong to their owners.

It does not show live availability. Whether a stall is free right now is not tracked, and no page claims that it is. It is also not a national census: the directory holds the stations EVDIR has curated so far, which currently covers 23 states. A station that is missing is more likely to be one we have not confirmed yet than one left out deliberately.

How it is paid for

Browsing is free and needs no account. The pages carry no analytics script, no advertising script and no account system, and the directory sets no cookie of its own.

The site is a static export: every page is written at build time from one data file, and nothing about a reader is stored to render it.

Where the numbers come from

Every station record is curated by EVDIR: part crowdsourced reports, part our own research into operators' published listings, site photographs and tariff pages. We normalise each record — connector codes, peak power, price per kWh, stalls and outlets — and compute every count, median and ranking on the site from that curation. No third-party directory is republished here.

The exact rules, the missing data and the limits of each figure are on the methodology page.

Correcting a record

A wrong address, connector or price should be reported to us directly, so it can be fixed in the next curation pass rather than waiting on someone else. The corrections page says what to send and where.
