What is J1772?
The plug, the current, the carJ1772 is the AC connector on almost every non-Tesla EV and plug-in hybrid sold in North America. At public stations it is usually a Level 2 charger.
The connector itself sets the shape of the plug, not the speed. A J1772 station can be a 3.3 kW curbside post or a 19.2 kW wall unit, and the car's onboard charger caps what it can accept. That makes these stations a good fit for a workplace, hotel or shopping stop rather than a highway pause.
Some J1772 stations are free, some bill by the kilowatt-hour, and some bill by the minute or session. The directory shows the per-kWh tariff when the network publishes one and says so when it does not.
What the label means
J1772 is AC charging, not DC fast. A car with a NACS inlet needs a J1772 adapter to use one.

Networks with the most
Counts are stations that list J1772, not plugs. One station can carry several connector types, so a station can appear here and in another connector's count. Prices are the networks' own per-kWh tariffs and can change by time of day. Counts from the directory data of October 2026.

No label guarantees a rate. Typically 3.3–19.2 kW; the station and the vehicle negotiate the actual charge. Check the station's peak power in the directory before relying on it for a quick stop.
